Opportunity:

Our Paralegals work closely with our attorneys and support team members to proactively oversee case management from inception through and after trial or settlement, by providing case-specific, project, and trial support.In addition, Paralegals are expected to satisfy an annual 800 billable hour budget; work extended hours as needed; travel as required for case support; demonstrate excellent customer service; and attend work on-site on a regular, punctual, and reliable schedule.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent judgment, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a flexible and solution-oriented mindset, all while contributing to the firm’s collaborative and team-oriented environment. The minimum qualifications for this position include:

  • Ability to work and bill as a paralegal under Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code section 6450;
  • A Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved institution, plus a minimum of three years of experience working as a paralegal with a California law firm or in-house legal department, bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Independently manage cases and proactively monitor and anticipate the needs of attorneys throughout the progression of cases (inception to close).
  • Knowledge of, ability to interpret and institute in practice various laws, statutes, and regulations, including civil procedure, rules of court, appellate procedure, discovery act and local rules;
  • Research various subject matter using IT and library resources available, including Westlaw, CEB, and Rutter Guides, other commercial databases, and online databases, including the internet.
  • Perform cite checking, shepardizing, and proofreading of briefs and other legal documents using various guides such as style manuals and Bluebook.
  • Organize and maintain case-related materials, including prior experience calculating and reviewing docketing dates for each matter, and ensure proper maintenance of any required case calendars;
  • Assemble administrative records and appendices in various courts;
  • Proficiency with the latest Microsoft Office Suite and/or Office 365;
  • Proficient with iManage;
  • Prior experience with timekeeping systems like Bill4Time, Clio, or Timeslips;
  • Familiar with eDiscovery software and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high ethical standards and strict confidentiality of all information that the employee may receive as a result of her or his role; and
  • Strong written skills, verbal skills, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this position is $48.00 to $55.00 per hour, non-exempt. Redwood Public Law will consider a variety of factors in determining final compensation, including other skillsets, qualifications, and experience, among others. Redwood Public Law offers a competitive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, long-term/short-term disability, and 401(k).
